Extending over four campuses, the Monash Masterplan has shaped Monash University as a leader in curated and sustainable development. We co-authored the Caulfield and Clayton masterplans at MGS Architects, then spent the following decade leading their implementation at Monash University. We established new policies, standards and processes and guided the development of the next generation of masterplans for all four Australian campuses.

This comprehensive experience demonstrates our proven ability to translate visionary planning into practical, sustainable outcomes that serve communities at scale. Our deep understanding of institutional needs, combined with our commitment to creating spaces where people belong, positions us to deliver masterplans that evolve with their communities over time.

Innovative design policies, procedures, standards and project briefs have propelled design excellence at the City of Melbourne and Monash University, where Jocelyn oversaw the establishment and implementation of design excellence programs with diverse stakeholders. The success of this work is evidenced through awards, publications and partnerships.

The development of clear briefs or project proposals in partnership with diverse stakeholders has enabled exemplary built outcomes for a range of activities across different sites. We bring interdisciplinary design nous and multi-sector experience to this work to ensure effective, ethical and inclusive processes and clarity of messaging between stakeholders.

We provide design leadership and interdisciplinary design review for significant projects, having served as an expert adviser for New Footscray Hospital (pictured) and National Gallery Victoria Contemporary competitions, as well as Chair of Melbourne and Monash Design Review Panels.

We provide strategic insight into what juries and clients seek in competitive design processes. Our expertise comes from establishing transformative design procurement processes for institutional and government clients, leading major development bids including Carlton Housing, and serving as jurors on state and national competitions and awards.

Our experience developing and delivering design competition guidelines and processes for major award winning commissions including The Woodside Building for Technology and Design by Grimshaw, plus serving as independent jurors for The Whitehorse Centre and Point Grey Design competitions, provides strategic insight into how juries and clients operate, and the steps required to achieve effective, ethical and innovative outcomes.

Our experience in developing and delivering place strategy spans two decades working with diverse stakeholders on award-winning structure plans, physical investment plans, urban design frameworks and masterplans. Our network of skilled collaborators ensures we can curate the right teams to reveal key socioeconomic and cultural insights that unlock activity and identify priority projects for investment.

We have led the development of business cases for diverse clients, most notably securing an ongoing budget for public art at Monash University. This was benchmarked against global precedents and has led to contemporary art becomining synonymous with the Monash experience.
